Yesterday was my third wedding anniversary… check out this cake!
To celebrate, here is a super quick wedding cake post for a cakes that I made for some really good friends this summer. Each wedding was super fun and completely different, which is part of what makes them so fun! I don’t have great photos of the couples with their cakes, I didn’t want to get in the way of the photographers, and i’ve been mucking around in lightroom and I have no idea what I’m doing so please bare with me.
The first wedding cake of the year was for good friends who got married in Edmonton at one of the golf courses just outside the city. It was a gorgeous wedding, the colours were navy, cream and a soft pink. The highlight for us? The couple had met at the office and their relationship flourished over many lunches at Fat Franks hot dog cart, lucky for us, they invited Fat Franks to the wedding for the midnight snack! It was exactly what we needed after an evening of drinking and dancing the night away! The cake was a simple 3 tier fondant cake in Navy, and the florist, Fabloomosity, supplied the flowers for the centre and it turned out great!
The couple also wanted Macarons for their guests to enjoy with dessert. I made them these little beauties in cream, navy and a soft pink.
The second wedding was three weeks later just outside of Calgary in this really awesome venue that had a gorgeous view. The bride and groom decorated with lots of fresh flowers and the place looked great! They requested a more complicated cake and all the work was worth it because the bride and groom loved the end result! This florist, (who’s name I can’t remember, sorry!) left some flowers for me to add, which was great because after the long car ride the cake had a couple owies that the flowers hid quite nicely.
Here is a close up of the pleated fondant top tier, tones of work but looks awesome!
So far this year we have had a great wedding season! We are lucky enough to be going to my brothers wedding in Scotland in September so there will be a few posts on their wedding and wedding events in the coming weeks.
Thanks everyone, I hope you’re enjoying your summer!
